Shaldon Regatta offers 130 events both on and off the water over nine days every August. It’s one of the oldest regattas in England - in 2017 we celebrated 200 years of regatta fun!
Our regatta is held in Shaldon, a picturesque village on the River Teign. The regatta is for everyone and is about encouraging people of all abilities to take part in a safe environment. If you're not sure what its all about just ask one of our friendly committee members at the committee stand on the beach. We have a small fleet of our own boats so you don’t need to be a boat owner to take part.
Our aim is to encourage people of all ages to use and enjoy the river and the sea SAFELY and we hope that we achieve this aim with a reasonable balance between deadly serious and the numerous fun events, so that spectators and competitors alike may enjoy the Regatta to the full.
It's not just about rowing and sailing! There's a huge number of events both on and off the water for teams as well as individuals. The pillow fight on a slippery pole on the last Monday of regatta always draws the crowds!
Our diary of events and programme for 2019 will be here to download very soon. Watch this space!
It is of course expensive to put on all these events! Equipment needs to be purchased and maintained and prizes given to the winners for all the events. One way you can help us is to become a patron of Shaldon Regatta. You can also enter our grand draw to win a Regatta Dinghy and buy a duck for our Great Duck Race. There's also volunteers wandering around with collection buckets during the week, so don't be shy, feel free to come and say hello and give us a donation!
We look forward to welcoming you to our regatta!
